Visual first writing. I created a series of illustrations each featuring different animals in dark, ominous tones in 2020. For a long time, I struggled to form and articulate a connection between the seemingly random selection of characters.

Finally, I decided to use each animal as a representation of its more well-known characteristics (such as an elephant’s renowned memory). I used these characteristics to depict the journey of developing emotional resilience, using poetry as a medium.
